Education :
Dr. Orak completed her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the Ä°zmir Institute of Technology in 2021, with a thesis focused on valorizing wastewater for hydrogen production through photocatalytic oxidation. She holds a Master’s degree from Ege University, where she developed innovative methods for treating micropollutants using monolith structured perovskite catalysts. Her Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering is also from Ege University. Additionally, Dr. Orak participated in Erasmus programs at UniversitĆ degli Studi di Salerno, Italy, where she conducted research on photocatalytic removal of pollutants.
Research Focus:
Dr. Orak’s research is centered on sustainable chemical processes, particularly wastewater treatment and energy generation using photocatalytic methods. She has worked on managing boron in geothermal fluids, valorizing wastewater for hydrogen production, and developing hybrid photocatalytic fuel cells for simultaneous wastewater treatment and energy generation. Her interdisciplinary approach leverages advanced materials and innovative catalytic systems to address critical environmental issues.
Awards and Honors:
Dr. Orak has received several prestigious scholarships, including the TĆBÄ°TAK 2218 National Postdoctoral Research Fellowship and the TĆBÄ°TAK-British Council Project Scholarship. She has also been awarded the TĆBÄ°TAK 2211/C National PhD Scholarship in the Priority Fields in Science and Technology and the YĆK PhD Scholarship Program for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells.
Experience:
Dr. Orak has held postdoctoral positions at Ege University and Ä°zmir Institute of Technology, where she led projects on hybrid photocatalytic fuel cells and boron management in geothermal fluids. She has also interned at UniversitĆ degli Studi di Salerno, Petkim PetroKimya Holding Co., and Dyo Paint Factories, gaining practical experience in chemical engineering processes.
